At 12 midnight our family woke up with a smokey ceiling. The roof was on fire, we grabbed our valuables and our 2-year old baby then ran downstairs. Someone called 911 and the fire department came. They killed the fire and thank God everyone is safe. In the morning, inspectors came and told us we can’t stay there cause it’s dangerous, the ceiling might collapse. The ceiling had holes, our living room was wet, the fire department moved&covered our furnitures to make a way for them to access the roof, our apartment has no electricity and it’s a mess. We stayed in the hotel after the fire and ask the owner for help. The manager is his spokeperson and he told us they don’t have a renter’s insurance, they won’t pay for the hotel, gave us the phone # for their insurance company then told us to call that phone#. We called the # and they said, “the bldg.is insured but not the renters.” theres nothing they can do for us. They told us to call Red Cross. Dead end, for short the owner of the bldg.wouldn’t help us.
